Shanghai to Beijing Express

Length: 8 days

A two-centre trip to China's two great cities - the capital Beijing and the economic powerhouse of Shanghai.

Day 1 Arrive Shanghai. Stay at 3-star hotel (own arrangement to hotel, no transfer or guide)
Day 2 Free day.
Day 3 Excursion to the city of Suzhou, famous for its classic Chinese gardens and silk industry. Take in a traditional performance at the Garden of the Master of Nets.
Day 4 Afternoon flight to Xi'an (own arrangement to airport). Stay at 3-star hotel (own arrangement to hotel).
Day 5 Tour with own local guide and car + driver to the famous Terracotta Army, returning to Xi'an to visit the Grand Mosque and Muslim Quarter. Own arrangement to railway station for overnight train to Beijing.
Day 6 Arrive Beijing. Pick-up and tour of Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and Summer Palace.
Day 7 Tour with local guide and car + driver to the Great Wall, returning to Beijing for a tour by cycle rickshaw around the 'hutongs' - the traditional residential areas of old Beijing.
Day 8 Exit (no transfer, own arrangement to airport).
