14-day Wonders of China and the Yangtze
Beijing - Yangtze River cruise - Chongqing - Xi'an - Shanghai - Suzhou

The cruise through the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River forms the centrepiece of this group tour which also includes the Great Wall, Terracotta Army and the exciting modern city of Shanghai.
A select group tour based on 5-star hotels and 4-star plus/5-star Yangtze cruise boat, with most meals included and with cultural evening shows.
Day 1 Depart London Heathrow or regional airports.
Day 2 Arrive Beijing. Transfer to 5-star Grand Gongda Jianguo Hotel or similar. Rest of the day free until welcome dinner in the evening. (D)
Day 3 Full day excursion to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, followed by Temple of Heaven. (B, L)
Day 4 Excursion to the Great Wall at Juyongguan. Also visit the Sacred Way to the Ming Tombs, with its lines of statues of mandarins and animals. Then return to Beijing to visit the gardens and pavilions of the Summer Palace. (B, L)
Day 5 Transfer to airport for flight to the central city of Yichang. Transfer to join your 4-star plus/5-star Yangtze cruise boat from Chinese Victoria Cruises or similar for stay on board before departure early the following morning (B, D)
Day 6 to 8 Yangtze River cruise upstream through the dramatic Three Gorges, including shore excursions to the Three Gorges Dam and the 'ghost city' of Fengdu and a trip in small boats through the lesser gorges of either the Daning River or Shennong Stream, tributaries of the Yangtze. (B, L, D)
Day 9 Arrive Chongqing. City tour including the panda house at the zoo before transfer to airport for flight to Xi'an. Met on arrival and transfer to 5-star Grand Noble Hotel. (B, L)
Day 10 Full day excursion, travelling first to see the famous Terracotta Army, created by China's first emperor to guard his tomb for eternity. Then return to Xi'an city to visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the impressive medieval city wall. In the evening enjoy a 'Tang Dynasty show' after dinner evoking in music and dance the sights and sounds of old China. (B, L, D)
Day 11 Visit to the Shaanxi Historical Museum before transfer to airport for flight to Shanghai. Transfer to 5-star Ramada Plaza Gateway Hotel or similar (B)
Day 12 Full day city sightseeing tour, including the Yu Garden in the old town district, the Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund or waterfront, the World Financial Centre in Pudong - the world's third tallest building, and the Shanghai Museum. In the evening enjoy the skills of a Chinese acrobatic show. (B, L, D)
Day 13 Excursion to the 'garden city' of Suzhou. Visit the Garden of the Master of the Nets, followed by the silk spinning factory, Panmen watergate and short canal boat trip. (B, L)
Day 14 Transfer to airport for flights back to London Heathrow arriving later the same day (B)

Day 14 Transfer to airport for flight to Hong Kong and transfer to
Prudential Hotel (4 star) in Kowloon. (B, L)
Day 15 Half day tour of Hong Kong Island, to include Victoria Peak and
Aberdeen Harbour. Afternoon free. (B)
Day 16 Transfer to airport for flight back to UK, arriving later the
same day or early the following morning depending on airline
schedules. (B)

We use special fares for international flights at an average of about £650pp which help keep the cost of tours to a minimum. These seats are limited by airlines, however, especially at peak periods between April and October, so may not be available at the time of your booking in which case a small flight supplement, or an alternative airline may apply. We therefore advise early booking to avoid disappointment.
