JAPAN HIGHLIGHTS
Tokyo - Kyoto - Nara- Tokyo
Length: 6 nights/7 days
A combination of the modern-day capital of Tokyo with the former capital of Kyoto, linked by a visit to Mt Fuji, one of the most recognisable symbols of Japan.
Day 1 Depart UK.
Day 2 Arrive Tokyo. Transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free.
Day 3 Full day tour of Toyko to include the Meiji shrine, Imperial East Gardens, the vibrant Asakusa Kannon Temple and a cruise around Toyko Bay. (B, L)
Day 4 Coach to the foot of Mt Fuji, and drive halfway up to an elevation of 2,300 metres. Proceed to Hakone for a cruise on Lake Ashi and trip on the Mt Komagatake cable car. In the evening take a Shinkansen 'bullet train' to Kyoto. (B, L)
Day 5 Morning sightseeing tour of Kyoto including the Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace. In the afternoon travel to the ancient capital of Nara to visit the Todaiji Temple, housing Japan's largest bronze image of Buddha, the Deer Park and the Kasuga shrine, with its 3,000 stone and bronze lanterns. Day 6 Free day in Kyoto until evening return to Toyko by train. Transfer to hotel. (B)
Day 7 Transfer to airport for flight to UK. (B)
